Viscose fibers are semi-synthetic cellulose fibers, which means they are naturally derived but undergo a regeneration process. Cellulose from natural sources such as wood and agricultural waste is dissolved and separated from impurities. The dissolved solution is converted into fibers through a wet spinning process. Viscose fibers have the same chemical structural basis as cotton fibers, which are cellulose polymers. Therefore, viscose fiber has similar properties to cotton fiber, such as high hydrophilicity, breathability, and comfort, and viscose fiber is cheaper than cotton fiber. But viscose fibers have a different appearance than cotton fibers and are brighter and smoother to the touch. Viscose fibers can be dyed with a variety of textile dyes, such as reactive dyes, direct dyes and vat dyes.
